TRAXXAS – How To Install 2085X Steering Servo

To increase precision and steering authority on X-MAXX, install the metal gear 2085X digital steering servo.
The accessory servo includes a stiffer servo saver spring and steel steering linkage to turn the high torque strength into precise control.
For installation you will just need 2 millimeter and 2.5 millimeter hex tools.
Power tools are okay when used at a low torque setting.
To install the unit first remove the body.
Remove the eight screws from the top of the chassis.
Remove the screws from the steering linkage.
Remove the four front screws on the center skid plate and disconnect the front module.
Remove the four rear screws from the center skid plate and remove the component.
Remove the servo horn.
Remove the wire clamp and receiver box cover.
Disconnect the servo from the channel one slot in the receiver and remove the wire.
Take out the three screws securing the servo to the chassis and remove the stock servo.
Take your new 2085X servo and put it in place.
Routing the wire through the chassis.
Be careful not to pinch the wire and secure the servo with the original three screws.
Pull the wire through the wire clamp and into the receiver box.
Plug the connector into the channel one slot in the receiver.
Make sure all wires run flat across the foam pads without overlapping.
Close the wire clamp and receiver box.

Now power on the transmitter and vehicle and center the steering trim using the dial on the transmitter.
Take the new steel steering linkage and attach it to the new servo one.
With the servo centered reattach the servo horn with the arm pointing up and the steering linkage on top.
Reinstall the center skid plate with the four rear screws.
Take out the four screws to remove the bell crank support.
Remove the screws to release the servo saver spring.
Install the new stiffer servo saver spring.
Reinstall the bell cranks support.
Ensure that the center driveshaft is securely placed in the chassis and reattach the front module.
Reinstall the chassis hardware, four screws on the bottom and eight on top.
Now reattach the steering linkage and you’re done.
