1/8th Buggy "A" main final

For years now Hemet California has been the unofficial start of the Nitro racing season in the US. Not only the first, but possibly the hardest race of the year. "The Dirt" as it''''s known is the home track to the USA''''s finest drivers. Years and years of racing there has raised the level of competition very high. Just making the "B" or "C" is extremely hard. Many a big name found themselves down the chart.

Joey Christianson is known as the best track builder in the states. This years track would be pure supercross with big triple jumps, woop sections and many elevation changes and burms to use. A key feature was a over/under bridge that was a driver (and crowd) favorite. Drivers expected it to get rutted up and that to qualify good here you better be fast in the day as well as the night. Luck plays a part but it''''s amazing that the top guys still rise to the occation and put in the runs. Qualifiers would be run all day under clear sunny skies. The last round would take place under the ample lighting. After the last round finished , well around 10:30 pm and after a tense fight for the TQ spot. It was Jared Tebo putting his TTR on pole with Richard Saxton a close second. Some "B" standouts include Electric World champs Billy Easton and Ryan Cavalieri, Adam Drake, Jason Ashton and Kris Moore would all attempt to secure the bump spots in that tough "B".

Sunday was another picture perfect day, sunny and warm in the california tradition.
Most of the higher qualified driveers could sleep in some as they know they would not be racing till later that evening. The "B" was stacked with talant, it would no doubt be tough to transfer. Adam Drake took an early lead with his "earlrosho" as it was called (a Hong nor 9.5) with the rest driving like it was the last lap. Cavalieri would take a different approach and at a slower pace with no crashes he worked right through and would just catch Drake by the end of the 20 minute run. So Adam and Ryan would get to bump and bring their extra track time to the "A" battle.

Almost no other race compares with Hemet under the lights. The "A" was now filled with top factory drivers from several teams. TTR, Kyosho, Ofna, Mugen and hotbodies all had buggies in the main.

The temps were droping and the drivers would have to contend with that as well as the super rough track. With Warm Up over and all the drivers looking super fast...the mechanics got the call to bring the buggies to the start. The once noisy crowd was suddenly quiet. All eyes awaited the tone, Tebo and Saxton using there prime starting spots took to the front for three corners till the uphill woop section that claiming both buggies as they flipped on there tops almost at the same time! This let most of the pack past both drivers. Kortz blasted into the lead and looked to set the early pace. The Hotbodies of Travis Amesqua broke very early on and Tebo had some small mechanical but was able to repair and continue after losing some laps. Mark Pavidis and Greg Degani had muscled past the pack to claim 2nd and 3rd early on. The charging Saxton was not done yet. Picking off drivers almost every lap he charged to the front. Josh Wheeler and Adam Drake, Chad Bradly all seemed to be having fun, but were a bit off the pace.
Ryan Cavalieri was using the same tactic as he did in the "B" slightly slower pace with much less crashing as he moved up. Saxton now building a lead was still pushing very hard....he falls victom to bad luck. Degani racing hard with Bradly falls off the Over/Under bridge...he attempts to rejoin the track but a speeding Saxton unfortunatly rams Greg from behind, breaking Richards EB4 and ending his race.

Ryan Cavalieri still fairly new and recently signed Kyosho driver has beat the best on a brutal track. With his confidance and pace he should be concidered a top USA favorite for the upcoming Worlds. And with Kyosho taking the top three spots on the podium, it looks like the USA team is off to a good start this year. Hemet again challanged drivers like no other. Ilook forward already to next years event!

The Indoor Holland race was a field of 140 drivers from all over the world. Many top european drivers were there as well. Saturday was the first day of qualifying. After 4 rounds of qualifying David Tortorichi from Crono took TQ. Sunday was the finals. The track was extremly bumpy. The bumpiest track I have ever seen or have driven on. At the start of the final. It was very close between Pavidis, Reckward and the two Crono drivers. About 15 minutes into the final Pavidis had built a 5 - 10 second lead on second place. With about 10 minutes left Pavidis soon came in for last pit stop when Pavidis ran into some problems with the bumps but soon got going again. This gave Tortorichi the gap he need to close on Pavidis and soon after Pavidis pit stop with 4 minutes left the race was between Tortorichi and Pavidis for the win. With two laps left both were no changing positions for the lead in almost every turn. Pavidis lead the start of the final lap taking it very cautiously not to crash on the very bumpy track. With only a few turns left Tortorichi had nothing to lose so he was driving VERY hard and not crashing which is still amazing. Going into the last turn they were both side by side. Pavidis hit the cornermarshal and both crashed but Tortorichi was up first and drove the last five feet to take the win. Former champion Reckward come to third and Degani come to 6th. Also young Swedish Thern come to 8th.

The Kyosho FW-05R and the Sirio S12TRP-I engine set the pace at the 2004 IFMAR 1/10 GP Touring Car Pre-World Championship, claiming both the TQ and the win!

1/10 GP Touring Car Pre-World Championship took place at the Jundiai Raceway in San Paulo, Brazil, the location of the next World Championships, from the 26th to the 29th of February.
With sights set on the World Championships from October 7-17, Mr. Takuya Ito did even better than his 3rd at the Japanese Nationals with a tuned FW-05R and the newly designed Sirio S12TRP-I.
Team Kyosho''s Takuya Ito posted an impressive TQ in qualifying, despite having no chance to use the track for set-up prior to the race due to rain. The best finish for a Japanese driver in the final was 4th.
Also, using the same Kyosho FW-05R and Sirio S12TRP-1 combination, Team SIRIO/KYOSHO''s Mr. Francesco Tironi improved on his 3rd place in qualifying to finish top of the podium in the final.
