During the first year of support for the F1 teams it became clear that the Palfinger 100002 unit is not enough to effeciently set-up the Engergy Station, especially as it should be expanded for the 2007 races. So Sparr planned a 2nd vehicle, one with more lifting power and stability in all directions.

They again choose a Scania, a special unit this time. It is this Scania R620 in 10x4*6 layout, a chassis that is built by Laxa. It was equiped with the large Topline cab and was again painted in the Red Bull colors wich are now standard for the trucks of Sparr.

The Palfinger, the topmodel this time - the PK150002, was installed by Walser. It stands in the middle of the chassis. This gives an equal weight distribution and gives the posibility to mount cross-legs at the front.
A small loading box has been mounted at the rear. The Scania has been registered as a mobile machine instead of a truck, this means that is not allowed to transport a load with it. This kind of registration is necessary to get a unit like this on the road. The law in Austria only allows 32 tonnes for a single chassis (usually 4-axled) and this truck already weighs about 35 tonnes, so it needs a special registation.

The chassis is based on a 8x4*4 unit that gets an extra front axle. Behind the cab there is a nice tower with side flaps. In the tower we find the dieseltank, the oiltank and the oilcoolers. To the side and on top there are storage compartments.
When the crane is folded it fits between the 2 driven axles, this way it can be mounted as low as possible. At this side of the chassis we see the Ad-Blue tank.
A better view on the mighty Palfinger PK150002. It is equiped with a winch and a PJ170E jib. The basecrane is PK150002 in G version, that has an outreach of 18,8 meters and can still lift 4,8 tonnes there. The jib gives an outreach of 32 meters, with the manual extension that gets 33,5 meters.
As the rear axle is steered, the truck is as maneouvrable as a normal 8x4 truck., which is of great adavantage when the truck is used on building sites.
To give stability in all directions they mounted cross outriggers at the front. This is the lower outrigger, the leg on the other side is mounted above this one.
Here all 6 outriggers are extended, the crane can be unfolded.
The big crane is being set up rather quickly. The crane is fed with oil by two large oilpumps (one at the engine and one at the gearbox) that provide enough flow and pressure at all time.
The crane is demonstrated near the companies yard. The crane can lift at full power to the front when the cross legs are used.
Here we see the crane almost at it's maximum outreach.
