Racing gets hot! Yes, it does. At least as far as the temperature of the Motor and Speedo goes. Further following our task of comparing brushed to brushless motor technology we got the opportunity to temperature-check some of the Masters brushed and brushless motors directly after the 3rd A-Main with our trusty Thumb-O-Meter. The results are of course not representative in any way but they give a memorable (ouch!) impression which everybody may interpret for himself. According to our Thumb-O-Meter the temperature of the brushed motors ranged from very hot to BBQ while the brushless motors were significantly cooler. The hottest brushless motor reached about the same temperature as the coolest brushed motor. This personal impression was also supported by the fact that any of the brushed-motor-equipped cars also sported fans and other additional cooling to help keep the motor temperature in check while most brushless motors were run without any extra cooling devices. We promise to support our thumb-o-meter with “hard” data at next years TCM. Challenging News, the 2nd: With another win in the 3rd leg of the A-Mains Super-Sport-Challenge Frank Rauch won the Title, while Thomas Günsel gained the 17 T Challenge overall victory by winning the 1st and 3rd leg of the A-Main. Racing gets really hot!!! With the final decision on the TCM-Title to fall in the 3rd Leg of the A-Main everybody was at trackside cheering for his or her favorite driver and even the spectators seemed to feel the importance of the outcome of this race. With Mark and Jilles sitting in the hot chair for the overall win, the last race of the day promised to be the one with the most tension and the most pressure on those two drivers. This time the entire field got the start perfect. No roll-overs or mishaps whatsoever. From the start on Marc defended his lead while Jilles managed to put extreme pressure on marc about halfway through the race. Jilles was incredibly quick as he could even make up a few tenth of a second lost at a contact with the corner markers. But Marc stayed totally cool and kept a super-tight line, making passing absolutely impossible for Jilles. Until the very last lap the two drivers exhibited absolutely supreme driving and put some distance between them and the remaining field. It was only in the last lap that Jilles nerves gave in when he rolled his car in the infield and lost contact with Marc whom he had chased around the track within meters range for 5 minutes. We congratulate Marc Reinhardt for defending his Masters Title at the TCM and pay highest respect to Jilles Groskamp who would have been a worthy winner, too. |
